About Jon-Erik

I am an educator and sustainability advocate with a lifelong passion for leaving a positive mark on the world. Currently, I serve as a Reader in Engineering Education at King’s College London, where I lead initiatives to embed Education for Sustainability (EfS) across the College's various education programmes.

My journey began with a fascination for clean energy and its potential to address the world’s most pressing challenges. I specialised in fusion energy, believing it could pave the way for a more sustainable future, and I’ve spent my career striving to transform my visions for a sustainable world into reality ever since.

Throughout my professional journey, I have held various roles in academia, including as a lecturer at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where I developed new engineering programmes and facilitated industry collaborations. I am the founder and CEO of Snowflake Education AB, where I have worked with institutions and businesses to create innovative training and educational tools that advance sustainability education. I am the creator of the educational game Dilemma, author of textbooks in sustainability, and my experience spans research in industrial sustainability, curriculum development, and pedagogical approaches that prioritise active learning.

Beyond my professional life, I am an outdoor enthusiast who finds joy in sailing, skiing, kayaking, and trekking. Growing up in Stockholm, I developed a deep appreciation for nature and the incredible landscapes of the archipelago, where I often seek solace and adventure.

I believe that education offers the best lever for creating a fantastic future for humanity. However, to make education for sustainability meaningful, it needs to present ideas that balance awareness bout the challenges that our society faces and the pathways that have the potential to address them; it needs to address key competences for sustainability (such as systems thinking, values thinking, critical thinking etc.); and it needs to be meaningful for the particular discipline that students are learning to master. My mission is to empower the next generation of professionals and leaders to develop the competencies needed for a sustainable and enjoyable future for all.

Let’s connect and explore how we can work together to create impactful change in education and sustainability.
